The Gender Game by: Bella Forrest

For fans of The Hunger Games and Divergent
comes a story like no other…

A toxic river divides nineteen-year-old Violet Bates’s world by gender.

Women rule the East. Men rule the West.

Welcome to the lands of Matrus and Patrus.

Ever since the disappearance of her beloved younger brother, Violet’s life has been consumed by an anger she struggles to control. Already a prisoner to her own nation, now she has been sentenced to death for her crimes.

But one decision could save her life.

To enter the kingdom of Patrus, where men rule and women submit.

Everything about the patriarchy is dangerous for a rebellious girl like Violet. She cannot break the rules if she wishes to stay alive.

But abiding by rules has never been Violet’s strong suit.

When she’s thrust into more danger than she could have ever predicted, Violet is forced to sacrifice many things in the forbidden kingdom … including forbidden love.

In a world divided by gender, only the strongest survive…

Wow!!!!!!! This was an awesome book. It started out a little slow for me in the beginning, but it got better and better as the book went on. I so wanted Violet to leave Lee and tell him where to shove what he wanted her to do, but I understood why she didn’t.

Violet is what you could only describe as someone who is always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Trouble always seems to find her. When she goes to defend herself that is where the trouble gets her in more trouble. She spent most of her teen years in juvenile detention you could say. After the last fight she was in she knew she was going to be put to death. But, instead of being put to death she was given a special assignment from the Queen.

An egg was stolen from their side and she wanted to get it back. Violet was to be married to a man that lived on the other side of the river that was dominated by the men. But, he was supposed to be allied with her side. He needed her help to get the egg back. She was sent to that side of the river and met up with Lee. She didn’t really want to do this but it was her only chance at freedom and to be able to see her brother who was marked at the age of 8 and was sent off to the mines. (or so she was told). That is what drove her but as always she runs into trouble. She is able to get out of it.

Lee sees that Viggo (a warden) seems to have a thing for women from the other side of the river. He sets it up to where they are to get close with one another so it will help with their plan to get the egg back.

Well, what Violet does not realize is that the more time she spends with Viggo the more she is really starting to like him. But, with being able to see her brother on the line she went trough with the plan that Lee had in place to get the egg back.

The were able to get the egg back and made it back to the Queen on the other side of the river. Lee asked her to wait on the roof while he went and talked to the Queen and one of her assistants. He was gone for a while and told her to go in. When she got there, the sight she saw was something that shocked her. (don’t want to give away what she saw). She ran to the roof and met back up with Lee fleeing the castle. Somethings happed that I don’t want to reveal and the very end Violet had some decisions to make.

I can’t wait to see what she chooses first and what happens in the next book. I would advise anyone who likes these kind of books to get this book today and read it. It is awesome and Bella did it again.
